You're dead right Monk, I base my opinions on these things on what I learn from Hollywood blockbusters.
Similarly, why would I "care to read up" on Drone strikes when I have the font of knowledge that is WHO to to dip into on such matters?
I find it's best to keep things simple when researching these matters.

What I don’t understand is the Yanks claim this sort of thing, “pinpoint precision” etc, yet it seems IS is still on the offensive??? surely with all this firepower and hi tech weaponry from the cream of the western worlds air forces combined and they cant seem to stop a bunch of bearded nutters in pick up trucks from gaining more and more ground?

I have no particular issue with him being taken out, peroni. I simply don't believe that the yanks intelligence is good enough and that these strikes are as targeted and surgical as they make out. You have probably been watching too many Mission Impossible movies.
The drone programme has been very ineffective - apart from increasing the hatred of the West, It is simply not working and that is an opinion quite widely shared if you care to read up on it.
